For those that may have missed the news back in November, The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association(CIAA) voted on November 1, 2010 to keep the annual tournament in Charlotte through 2014. The tournament has been in Charlotte since 2006, and generates more income for the city during the week-long festivities than any other event the entire year.
While the money flowing in stimulates the Queen City’s economy, there are some locals that don’t embrace the thousands of visitors that invade their city. Local NAACP officials had pushed to consider a move after the city’s school system agreed to hold classes on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
