Where To Eat During Tournament Week

Trying to decide where to eat during CIAA Weekend in Charlotte can be tougher than where you and your crew will party. There are dozens of options in and around Uptown, however all will likely be packed during peak dining hours. It’s been to plan ahead, and have an idea of where you want to go. Here are a few options you may not know about.

GrabbaGreen (Epicentre)

GrabbaGreen describes themselves as “a fast food restaurant where great tasting, healthy food meet the speed and convenience of traditional fast food.” The mainly gluten-free, GMO free menu doesn’t have an unhealthy option on it, which will be appealing to those looking to eat right even if they are day drinking.

Mert’s Heart & Soul (214 N. College Street)

Located in the heart of Uptown Charlotte, Mert’s is one of the most visited restaurants in the city year-round. You can now download their app for Android or iPhone and order your meal ahead of time. Expect delays during Tournament Week, especially around dinner hours.

Amelie’s French Bakery (2424 N. Davidson Street)

Amelie’s is a popular breakfast and brunch option, and during regular weekends can see long waits. Get there early if you and your crew want to grub before hitting the day parties on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

Midnight Diner (115 E. Carson Blvd)

Midnight Diner 2017 CIAA Charlotte
The popular 24 hour spot is packed on the weekends year-round, and while the Red Eye Diner is a few steps away from many of the Epicentre hot spots on Tournament Week, the original diner in Uptown is still the best. You will wait, but the chicken and waffles are worth it.

Price’s Chicken Coop (1614 Camden Road)

Price’s is known locally for having some of the best southern fried chicken in the city. A 1/4 Chicken dinner after a day party can give you enough life to make it to your night event, all for less than $10.00.

Dessert Specialists (255 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd)

If you are looking for some of the best sandwiches and patries in Charlotte, you don’t have to look further than Dessert Specialists. Their cookies melt in your mouth, and their chocolate and wine pairing is a must if you are looking for the something different to start or end your day.
